![]() It's more like a JDS Atom amp in that way. The power rating on the Topping 元0 is only when you put 3 volts into it, the E30 does like 2.2v so you won't reach the stated power levels it claims. For 32ohm dynamic headphones or headsets a Soundblaster G6 is more than enough. Also for planar magnetics the Heresy really sounds good like the Drop Hifiman HE-4XX or Sundara. I picked the JDS 4490 original DAC since it handles treble well and I use brighter headphones mostly. Filters 2 and 5 on the E30 were ok, but the 元0 combo sounded kind of dry (it scores crazy on SINAD but it's down to personal preference and the Heresy does it for me). The Khadas tone board also paired really well with the Heresy. The Magni 3+ is excellent too, some gamers prefer it's sound stage. The E30/元0 was good too, but I buy and sell gear so the power of the Heresy will handle almost anything. overall much more balanced sound allowing more types of music to shine.I've got the Heresy and a JDS Atom DAC (4490 version) and it's great for gaming and music both. Schiit stack Good bass, significantly better mids/highs. Ifi Amazing bass (Like crazy good), poor mid to highs. Im sticking with my schiit stack as i think it sounds better for most types of music and im not a bass head or anything. i did also feel the ifi had given the sundaras a slightly larger soundstage, but not a huge amount. but it does cause it to outshine everything else in the track, mudding the mid to high end. If you really like bass however, the ifi is something else. overall the sound is so much more balanced, letting all aspects of the music shines through making it good for all kinds of music. overall the schiit stack takes the win by a long shot in the respect.Ĭoncluding, i feel the schiit stack does take the win with quite a margin. the schiit stack however, does the sundaras justice in that respect, allowing the highs to shine just as much as the bass. it also made vocals less of the highlight in the tracks i tried which did initially turn me off the sundaras quite a bit given i didnt realise it was the dac at fault. but when i initially listened to them with the ifi, i felt the highs were quite muted and very overshadowed, especially with such thumpy base. and it was supposed to be one the highlights of the sundaras. the sundaras are supposed to have quite bright, but not overly so highs. However another big difference was the highs. so i think the ifi wins in that respect, not by a lot but noticeable. the schiit on the other had are also good, but more balanced. ![]() made the sundaras base very thumpy and tight. The low end on the ifi was very very very good. The main differences i felt in the short time listening to the ifi with the sundaras, versus my schiit stack with the sundaras are the low end bass and the highs. personally i thought there was a big difference given i had never heard both the sundaras and the ifi zen dac before, so much so i almost didnt get the sundaras cos they made the sundaras sound off to me. when i went to test them out, the shop let me try them out with the ifi zen dac v2. i recently purchased a pair of hifiman sundaras. My daily driver is the schiit stack (modi 3, magni 3H). Late to the party but i wanted to put my two cents out there in case anyone else in the future has the same question.
